A case in point for me has always been The Shining. That was Jack Nickelson *acting*, making it hard to get fully immersed in the film. Jacks is always Jack in any film, making most of his performances sort of watery. For me.

Thanks for the great comment on The Pagan Sphinx. Keep 'em coming!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17296223961815248113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3652081779226927454.post-47032498358989495672012-08-26T01:04:31.748-07:002012-08-26T01:04:31.748-07:00Yeah, you're right about the sex/nudity thing ...Yeah, you're right about the sex/nudity thing going for all movies. I guess I just mostly notice it in horror films.
Again, it's not a matter of prudish dismay... I love those early Jean Rollin vampire movies, but the ubiquitous nudity in those helps to create the bizarre atmosphere... versus the frat-boy snickery of a peekaboo scene of coeds undressing in a slasher movie that's just there to provide some boob shots.
Timmy Crabcakeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14737954661234574830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3652081779226927454.post-55321491457442579872012-08-25T22:17:13.431-07:002012-08-25T22:17:13.431-07:00All of your points are valid, but I think I mostly...All of your points are valid, but I think I mostly agree with point number two for ALL movies. Bronson arrived from Blockbuster @Home yesterday so I watched it with one of my friends who I also work with at Dish. He was so upset that Tom Hardy is naked half the time, but I felt that it was required to keep the artistic feel for what the director was looking for to portray the British criminal. He wondered why I wasn’t okay with the nudity and sex scenes in some of the movies that he likes, and I tried to explain to him that they’re not needed to make the movies’ story lines any better. I’m glad to find that there is someone who gets my point! You’ve named several horror movies that I really want to revisit, so I’ll be sure to add them to my queue since I can rent an unlimited number of discs without paying more. Great work – I can’t wait to see what you think of Possession!SelinaBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15099762491054076461noreply@blogger.com
